Rain started to fall along the Gulf Coast as Hurricane Dolly -- upgraded in force from a tropical storm -- closed in on towns straddling the Texas-Mexico border.
A tropical storm named Dolly by forecasters has spun its way into a category one hurricane as it heads towards Texas and the northeast of Mexico, packing 75mph winds.
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Hurricane Dolly gathered strength as it approached southern Texas on Wednesday, but forecasters don't expect it to pack much punch when it comes ashore near the U.S.-Mexican border at around midday.
Hurricane Dolly has hit the south Texas coast, lashing low-lying areas on the US-Mexico border with torrential rain and 100 mph winds as it marches toward a flood-prone region.
